24. “Doe-Eyed” (Mrig-Nayani)
(…continued…)
Niki & Nil talked for hours that night,
After exams, tomorrow … she would go home, at first light.
Just the thought of parting tugged softly at their heart,
They wished this night would never end,
Let words keep glowing, warm and bright,
Let moments stay wrapped in silver moonlight.
Time itself felt paused in its flow…
As if it paused just to watch their feelings grow.
Then Nil penned a rhyme once more,
A silent tale of friendship they both bore…
“ When the night stands still
& the world sleeps deep,
Your laughter …your eyes
in my memory seep.
Moon and stars weave dreams in a thread,
affection has adorned for us tonight softly spread..
The softest star twinkles slow up above the sky,
As our shores draw closer in silent move, tell me why?.
Hands meet in silence, no words to say,
Even the moon falls shy of your beauty today.
O doe-eyed one!
You’re a gentle and rare,
a living poem, beyond all compare.
& living verse of passion & grace,
Even the moon bows before your grace,
You paint sweet memories in time and space.
Without you, words feel hollow, incomplete, few….
every feeling turns still,
& memory fades, emotions fall.
Without your presence filling them for a while…
The softness in your eyes, your tender smile,
Your inner beauty …priceless all the while,
Like the deep blue sea shore
Waving endlessly… asking for more.
Your essence remains pure…
feelings as tide…
an endless ocean at my side…”
